Organized by the Basque Government’s Ministry of Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism (via Basquetour, the Basque Tourism Agency), the Spanish General Secretariat for Tourism and Domestic Commerce, and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the
2nd International Conference on the Measurement and Economic Analysis of Regional Tourism will take place from
27 to 29 October 2011 in the Euskalduna Palace Conference Centre, Bilbao, Spain.
The conference aims to be a knowledge sharing forum among scholars, professionals, enterprises and institutions of the tourism sector, offering a reflection on various issues of particular relevance to tourism from a sub-national perspective.
The objective is to provide guidance on decision making and on designing effective tourism policies to those entities with interests in regional/local tourism destinations , in economic impact research and territorial relationships, as well as in innovative applications of technology to measure tourism flows.
The central themes of the Conference are:
- Policies for Seizing the Economic Potential of Tourism Destinations
- New Technologies and Innovation: Empowering Regional Tourism Stakeholders
- Linking Regional Economics, Mobility and Tourism in Applied Research
