Environmental features
1. Management
- Our purchasing policies aim to minimize waste and the transportation of goods.
- We encourage and supply guests with information for the use of public transport.
- We rent out bicycles.
- We use “green” cleaning agents with automatic dispensers.
- Washing machines use an automatic washing powder dispenser.
- We do not use drain cleaners, only hot water.
- We monitor the total consumption of water, hot water, heat, and electricity every week.
- We do not use pesticides.
2. Waste
- Hostel staff and guests recycle: glass, paper, cardboard, food, cans and metal.
- Waste from fruit and vegetables are composted.
3. Water
- The toilets flush with only 7 litres.
- Showers are regulated to a maximum of 9 litres per minute.
4. Energy
- Heating: central regulations and lower temperatures at nights.
- Electricity: energy saving bulbs and infra-red sensors are used where possible. Regulation of ventilation by timer.
- We optimize electronic installations, and have an energy policy when buying new ones.
- Key-card at the guest’s room to activate heating and electricity.
5. Information
- Guests: we show environmental results and achievements and publish environmental guidelines.
- Staff: we inform and ensure correct environmental behaviour. Training of new staff.
- Feedback and proposals for improvement.
