The “Eco-map” (download eco-map) helps to get a systematic overview of the current environmental situation in and around the Youth Hostel: entrance, reception and office, bedrooms, washrooms and toilets, kitchen, restaurant and bar, seminar rooms and public areas, and garden.
- Explain the map to your responsible staff
- Take a map of your building (floor per floor)
- Walk from room to room. Look for and identify environmental strengths (e.g. energy saving bulbs installed) and problems (e.g. unsorted waste), and mark them on the Youth Hostel "eco-map". Consider problem areas, discuss with colleagues about potential solutions and draw up an action plan (to include who will do what, how and when).
