TourBench was developed as a European online tool for any type of tourist accommodation – including youth hostels - to:

  • Systematically register their consumption and cost
  • To regularly monitor their current situation and compare it with earlier years
  • To compare with similar businesses and to recognise strengths and opportunities to improve and to save money

With few key data you can already monitor the Youth Hostel's environmental performance and track progress over time.
  1. Get a free account on www.tourbench.info
  2. Fill in the data and figures, at least on energy and water
  3. Compare and track progress over time
  4. Consider why the figures are like they are. Which measures have been achieved and which have not (and why)?
  5. Communicate the figures to staff, suppliers and guests (as a monthly or annual “environ-mental barometer” or as "figure of the month") and thank your partners for their contribution
