The school selected the most environmentally conscious way of travelling, produced some of their own solar energy, ate regional organic food, and considered how their environmental behaviour could be improved.

The main objective was to host a school trip with the lowest possible output of CO². For the CO² exceeding the fixed limit, compensation was credited to a wind energy plant in India. This exemplary concept was awarded 20.000 € in a public contest. www.jugendherberge.de
