This second Job Day Europe was organised in partnership with the European Commission in the framework of the 5O Years celebrations of the Treaty of Rome with the support of EURES, the European Job Mobility Portal. The event was focussing on mobility, job opportunities in Europe and multilinguism.

For the first time, this event was organised in the Berlaymont, the building that symbolises Europe. More than 5 000 participants were able to get information about every aspect of professional mobility in Europe by visiting 25 information stands hosted by professional institutions and organisations among which EUFED who was offered the chance to have a free stand!

On Saturday 29th September 2007, Mario Mohr (EUFED Operating Director) and Fanny Rouanet (EUFED Youth Committee and representative from FUAJ-the French Youth Hostel Association) attended this unique event and had the opportunity to meet with EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Vladimír Špidla who was a key speaker at EUFED 20th Anniversary celebration on 3rd May 2007 and Justine Henin the famous Belgian tennis player and guest star of Job Day Europe 2007!

Job Day Europe is a recruitment event but also a unique occasion to access to practical mobility information:

  • To inform students, workers and the unemployed about opportunities for studying, training or working in other EU Member States, the conditions for moving abroad with one’s current company, European Voluntary Service, and the practicalities that make it possible to exercise one’s profession elsewhere in Europe
  • To promote contact between businesses looking for staff and people looking for jobs or those who are already employed but wish to gain experience in other EU countries
  • To strengthen the European and international dimensions of Brussels by highlighting all the job vacancies offered by offices and agencies linked to the presence of the European institutions in Brussels
  • To create an opportunity for discussion and reflection on mobility in Europe in the event’s media partners
  • To contribute to the creation of a new dynamic of mobility within the European labour market
